Have you ever been on the set of a photoshoot? 2018 calendar, the topic: “Women and Motors”. It doesn’t sound like anything new! Here’s the surprise…
The tidy workshop of Mr Luca, experienced mechanic of both classic and modern cars, is turned into a photoshoot set for one evening. An appointment where two passions are combined: photography and cars. .
The noise of the hairdryer replaces the noise of pneumatic tools, and it’s the perfect soundtrack for the frenetic preparation of the set. The photographers place the lights: they light them up, they move them, they test them, they measure them and they consult with each other. The models only need a quick touch up.
Luca’s work bench is turned into a make-up table. The gender stereotypes meet and you have to admit that the tidily arranged wrenches fit in perfectly with the brushes and eyeshadow palettes.
Luca curiously looks at his workshop in this new light, while his son catches a chance to photograph the models with his phone.
The gaze is drawn by the colours of the fire: yellow, orange, red. The expressions of power, elegance, speed, in other words: Lamborghini Countach, Diablo and Miura …. Those gills which have been taking breaths away for fifty years!
Ready! Silence fall because concentration, meditation and intuition are needed to immortalise that moment, which is pregnant with emotion.
The photographers have decreed that the photographs for the calendar will be in black and white. Will that have anything to do with not wishing them to be too distracting?
Women and motors meet and the profiles tangle. The characteristics overlap: beauty, seduction, charm, strength. Mystery!
Mercedes SL 300, Lamborghini Countach and again Lamborghini 400 GT, these are the protagonists of the photographs, with their unmistakable details which have made them unique.
I would like to thank the photographers, Angelo Rosa and Ermes Mazzali, for this entertaining experience, amongst young beauties and charming classic cars… how bizarre the idea of a ‘timeless’ cars calendar is, Timeless Calendar. Just like Roland would say: choose something that gives you the bite!
